Karl Kim is a Full-stack Web Application Developer, but he also explores many different digital technologies, such as Internet of Things (IoT), deep machine learning, and augmented reality technologies as he believe digital media can accelerate participatory ways of communication among people.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computational Media at Georgia Institute of Technology in 2016. He performed as an IoT Researcher at Public Design Workshop (PDW) since 2013, building a Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping platform for tracking ripening of fruit trees so that Concrete Jungle, a local non-profit organization in Atlanta, can harvest more fruits from untended urban trees and donate them to the needy. In 2017, he was hired as a Front-end Web Developer at MyMusicTaste and developed a web platform that promotes fan-centered concert and music industry pipelines using data engineering and crowdsourcing methods.

He also loves playing video games which virtually reflect aspects of society and communication. He was a high priest class manager of a raid guild ranked third, and a leader of other raid group in the World of Warcraft Zul’jin Korea server from 2007 to 2009. His most recent favorite game is Town of Salem, the online Mafia game that he can interact with friends or anonymous players.

He is currently studying in the Master of Digital Media program at the Centre for Digital media, practicing design process and design thinking in order to challenge civic and social issues with digital media that he will create in a near future.
